Job CONDITIONS
Role Description
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
Prepares monthly financial statements and related KPI reports.
Maintains the general ledger, prepares journal entries, and closes the monthly books
Codes invoices, reconciles accounts, and provides variance explanations.
Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Adheres to system of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX).
Generates inventory and operational reports for management.
Coordinates and reconciles semi-annual physical inventory counts.
Provides internal auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and provides relevant support.
Assist with requests from external auditors.
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
At least three years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
