Job Description

This position is located at ODOT's Central Office in the Comptroller Division.

This position is available with a possible underfill to Levels: I & II

Job Duties

This position will be in the Reporting Section of the Comptroller Division. The responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and ensure data integrity of the general ledger and related databases within the financial system.

  • Provide financial reporting support on a daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

  • Maintain various ledgers and journals

  • Provide support in the daily update of the general ledger and vendor database

  • Prepare annual GAAP financial reporting, federal grant reporting and audit supporting schedules.

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of cash, encumbrance and allotment balances.

Actively participate in the Transportation Cabinet's Modernization Initiative. Provide feedback and collaborate to enhance processes, encourage efficiencies and develop better communication with management and peers.

Occasional travel as needed for work, training, meetings, etc.

Communication skills, analytical skills, computer skills and software capabilities are critical to this position.

Additional Job Duties

Preference may be given to applicants knowing Excel, Oracle Apex, Oracle BI, GAAP, GASB and Governmental Accounting.

Education and Experience

Level I

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelors degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.

Level II

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelors degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field plus one year of experience in performing professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.

Level III

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelors degree in accounting or a bachelors degree in business, finance or a closely related field plus three years of experience in performing professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.
